The codes that you will see before or after the text of the sermon illustrations, inspirational quotes, humor and jokes refer to where that illustration was originally published. Here is what they mean:

• PEOct95 = Parables, Etc. October, 1995 (at beginning of sermon illustrations).
  
  
• SFOct95 = The Pastor's Story File, 1995 (at beginning of sermon illustrations).
  
  
• IOWJulAug93 = In Other Words... July-August issue 1993 (at end of sermon illustration or inspirational quotes). In certain cases the IOW material will only contain the date (95) because the issue was not defined.
  
  
• NIRR = National and International Religion Report (at end of sermon illustrations with issue volume and number).
  
  
• Illustrations with only a number at the end in the range from 1-1583 identify the material from Illustration for Biblical Preaching. The number corresponds to the sermon illustration's number in the book.
  
  
• All other material is from Preaching magazine with the volume and number referenced (at end of illustration).
